We like Friday Setups posts to be fun. We are looking for entertaining material, wacky sets and exotic locations. Today we found a Dutchman who works in IT management through his iMac M1.
That doesn’t sound particularly fun, but he also wields a pretty badass electric guitar.
He runs the ax into a Focusrite audio interface and also listens to his musical creations on a set of tin cans.

A Dutch computer scientist rocks with a 24-inch iMac, a Charvel electric guitar and a Focusrite audio interface
Netherlands-based IT management specialist and Redditor “Skoap” introduced the setup in a post titled “Setting up the iMac M1 for the home office.”
It uses a 24-inch iMac M1 with a Magic Keyboard and a Logitech MX Vertical Wireless Mouse used as input devices. The vertical mouse is of course designed with ergonomics in mind.
“I really like the Logitech MX Vertical, I wouldn’t go back to a normal (horizontal?) mouse,” he said.
Not 4K, not 5K – it’s 4.5K
The iMac sports a 4.5K Retina display with a resolution of 4480 x 2520 pixels, a wide P3 color gamut, and a brightness of 500 nits. The M1 chip delivers powerful performance with an 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU.
The machine has a 1080p FaceTime HD camera with M1 ISP for crisp video. And a three-mic array enables clear calls and voice recordings.
“I really like the iMac, the M1 chip is awesome,” he said. “It’s fast and no fan noise during online meetings. The only downside is that it’s mostly used for work.
But the iMac isn’t just for work. While Skoap works in IT management, he also dabbles in music for fun.
A Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Generation USB audio interface is connected to his computer, designed for use with an instrument and microphone.
He plays a Charvel Joe Duplantier Signature Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 2 HH E Mahogany solid-body electric guitar. That “HH” means it has two humbucking humbucking pickups, as opposed to the single coil pickups often found in this Fender Telecaster style guitar.
For the cans – so he can listen to himself playing and the recording he’s making without disturbing the neighbors – Skoap uses Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones. They feature a closed-back, on-ear design with an integrated bass-reflex system. They are suitable for studio level recording and monitoring.
Skoap also uses the highly customizable Sleeve desktop music player app.
