Cort has announced the new A4 Ultra Ash bass guitar, an addition to its Artisan series of electric basses.
The guitar is a premium edition of the A4 Plus and sports a natural finish on, unsurprisingly, an ash top. The black accents amplify the grain and give the bass a 3D feel. Other build points include a mahogany body, five-piece maple and panga panga neck-through, and a 24-fret-equipped panga panga fingerboard.
In terms of electronics, there are two versatile Fishman Fluence Bass Soapbar pickups, which have multiple selectable voices for use in any genre or recording situation. The voices, selected with a mini toggle switch, are: Voice 1 (passive), a more vintage voice for classic, bold and round tones; Voice 2 (active), suitable for full frequency and full dynamics; and Voice 3 (active with a medium edge), expressed more for funk and modern sounds thanks to the shaping of the midrange. A master volume knob offers a push-pull potentiometer for coil split, alongside a pickup mix knob and 2-band EQ for treble and bass.
The bass has a scale length of 34 inches and is fitted with a Hipshot TransTone bridge, Hipshot Ultralight tuners, with its hardware finished in black to complement the black highlights of the wood finish.
The tight string tension and focused sound provided by the 30-inch scale, along with versatile electronics and solid construction across the neck, should mean that a wide range of tones are within reach with the A4. Ultra Ash.
The bass costs $ 1,999 and comes with a hard case. Learn more at cortguitars.com.
