Dean presents the Thoroughbred Select Floyd Quilt Maple Natural Black Burst Electric Guitar

TAMPA, FL – Dean Guitars is off to the races with their first electric guitar of 2022, the Thoroughbred Select Floyd Quilt Maple Natural Black Burst. This new Thoroughbred model offers many of the proven features of the Dean’s Select series, such as a satin-finish neck and proprietary Seymour Duncan pickups, as well as a Floyd Rose 1000 Series bridge system for increased tuning stability. Additionally, the Thoroughbred Select Floyd QM Natural Black Burst offers players who prefer a more fashion-forward aesthetic an attractive new finish on a versatile instrument.

Beauty and strength combine in Dean’s tonewood selections for the Thoroughbred Select Floyd QM Natural Black Burst. The namesake Thoroughbred body has a solid mahogany construction with an arched quilted maple top, a design that when combined with a natural and black finish creates an undulating light-dark contrast. The visual effect is completed with a five-ply black-white binding – eye-catching features that are replicated on the matching headstock. Players will notice the 24 3/4 inch scale length and easy access to the high frets, which has the effect of making this guitar compact, yet wide.

Like the other models in the Dean Select series, the Thoroughbred Select Floyd QM Natural Black Burst is designed by professional musicians for professional musicians. This attention to detail becomes increasingly apparent at the neck and fingerboard. The sturdy neck is crafted from three-piece mahogany and is very comfortable with a C-shape, 12-inch fingerboard radius, and 22 jumbo ebony frets with pearl block inlays. The fingerboard is satin-brushed for ease of handling, and the single-ply binding adds a stylistic touch and an extra touch of class.

To further enhance the durability of this workhorse, Dean adds a dual-action truss rod into the set-neck construction, improving tonal transfer between the neck and body while allowing players to fine-tune the right amount of relief. . The Floyd Rose 1000 Series tremolo system at the bridge and matching Floyd Rose R3 nut (1 11/16-inch wide) help keep tuning stable during heavy riffs or searing solos. Grover 18:1 tuners provide increased reliability and facilitate easy string changes when needed.

The Thoroughbred Select Floyd QM Natural Black Burst features Seymour Duncan TB5 and APH-1 pickups at the bridge and neck, respectively, both in a Sandblasted Zebra Parchment finish. These proprietary pickups are sonically versatile, from cleaner classic rock and blues to deep crackle and clear highs for leads. Dean keeps the controls simple with two volumes and two tones, controlled with black speed knobs.

Beyond its fashion-forward aesthetic, complemented by black hardware, Dean’s Thoroughbred Select Floyd Quilt Maple Natural Black Burst is a versatile guitar offering boutique-style features at an affordable $1099.
