Donny van de Beek’s agent took a hit at Manchester United after hinting the club had blocked a transfer for the Netherlands international.
Van de Beek struggled to impress in his debut season at the club, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has publicly said – on several occasions – that the midfielder is part of his plans.
So far he has failed to establish himself as a regular on the squad and the manager knows it will be a long campaign, which will see him make many changes to the squad whether injuries or COVID- 19 bother him.
However, an exit had been announced and, speaking on the deadline day, Van de Beek’s agent expressed disappointment that a move could not be made.
Van de Beek was also linked to Everton the day of the deadline.
Guido Albers said Voetbal International, as cited by the Manchester Evening News: “There was a lot of interest from Italy, Germany, England so it looked good. But you need the club’s cooperation, and it looked like they would, but ultimately they didn’t.
“Disappointed, but also reassuring for him, that he has his chance, and that he gets his minutes, but that will become clear in due course.”
“He has already been promised this, but we have come to a clear agreement on this with the club, so we have every confidence that it will happen now.”
The interviewer then asked Albers if Van de Beek was happy with the situation, to which he replied, “I won’t say. But anyone who knows Donny knows he loves the game and wants to be on the pitch every week. So from that answer you can probably tell what he wanted the most.
